Bear Peak Hike

Interested in seeing The Great Rocky Mountains, up close and personal?  How about a trail hike known for amazing vista views from the Top Of Peaks, Canyon Views, Wildflowers, Meadows and amazing wildlife, such as rare birds (birding), deer and sometimes bear (please, no selfies with the bear).

Arriving there while its still dark out allows for beautiful sunrise views, so if enough of our folks want to go early a.m. we can include the sunrise.  But, if most folks would rather not start before dark, that’s okay too.  Lets see who is interested in the Bear Peak Hike, and then see how people feel about when is the best start time.

The Bear Peak Hike is considered by some to be a difficult, demanding 7.4-mile hike (round trip), which can take 4-5 hours round-trip, through the broad meadows of South Mesa, up through the rocky trail of shadow canyon, to the granite summit of Bear Peak, with sweeping 360 degree views of the Colorado Front Range.

If time allows and we’d like to, we could possibly add a brief detour to summit South Boulder Peak on our way up, which if time allows, why not?  And then, we can either return via the same trail in, or we could make a loop hike out of it by returning via Fern Canyon.

If you’re interested, feel free to explore the full Bear Peak hike profile online, to see the trail map and more tips and details to help us all enjoy this great NCSC Catholic adventure.

Please RSVP below for the amazing Bear Peak Hike as soon as you can, so that we can start planning for the number of hikers who are interested.  Our trail guide is Mark Pennington; please see Mark with any questions you may have.

Estimated Time: Dawn(to see sunrise) – ?

Costs: Individual pays for food and transportation (carpooling likely)
