The National Catholic Singles Conference has never failed to make the spiritual journey for single Catholics a memorable one, with music being an integral part of it. This year the conference is being held at the Diocesan Catholic Pastoral Center, in the very heart of music itself, Nashville, Tennessee.
A promising array of international artists, choirs and bands, including the Schola Cantorum of the Church of the Assumption, are lined up to minister and perform throughout the weekend. The more one reads about these amazing men and women who have been good stewards of their God given talents, the more impressed one becomes!
Hailing from the Great White North is Kay Clarity. Her music is poetry, which she has shared across Canada and the United States, as well as in Europe and the UK. Apart from her identity in music, Kay is also a firm believer in sharing beauty and stories with those in need, with the hope of bringing healing and comfort through her art.
Zander has delighted audiences throughout the world at his performances throughout the United States, Latin America and Australia. His pop/reggae style, influenced by multiple cultures and his various life experiences, is sure to keep things lively at Friday evening’s Welcome Reception!
NCSC Founder, Anastasia Northrop, has always worked to ensure that the NCSC events are a place to experience the beauty of Catholic worship in many forms – from Eastern Catholic (Byzantine, Melkite, Maronite) liturgies to prayerful worship music to Gregorian chant sung by various scholas throughout the country. This year Schola Cantorum of the Church of the Assumption will lift our spirits in worship on Saturday as they sing for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, celebrated by Bishop J. Mark Spalding.
PJ Anderson, a native of Nashville, who ministers primarily through worship music, will also be leading music at various points throughout the conference. Along with his international travels (including leading worship at World Youth Day in Poland), he and his wife Rachel have been involved in launching SUMMIT, a worship community in Nashville that caters to young adults from various denominations and faith backgrounds. Listening to his music, is akin to listening to a story. PJ, a man who desires to bring every heart closer to our Lord, is a beautiful reminder of the wonders that God’s grace does when we open our hearts to His love.
Last, but by no means least, versatile vocalist and musician, Christina Kateri, will not only lead music during adoration on Saturday afternoon, but then will switch gears for Saturday night’s dance at the historic Nashville Palace, a 1977 honky-tonk! She and her band will definitely raise the roof – and may be in danger of blowing it off! This is a dance not to be missed! The fun, fellowship and celebration of music provided by the Christina Kateri Band will be talked about for years to come.
